Coskun Yava was born in 1967 in Berlin, Germany. After completing his primary education there, he moved to Istanbul, Turkey. He later went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration from the Military Academy in Ankara and a Master's degree on the same subject from Selcuk University in Konya. While playing guitar during his university years  luthier Sabri Gˆktepe motivated him to play oud. During his academy years he began studying Turkish Classical Music with Muzaffer Senduran, which was followed by oud lessons with Emin Safa Sagbas. Between 2005-2006 he completed studying Tanrikorur's oud method  with Cinucen Tanrikorur's former student, Yusuf Kocak. Yava currently performs oud in various musical events and since 2013 he has been a member of the  the Eng¸r¸ and the Muzaffer Senduran Turkish Music Assemblies in Ankara.
